Local Moving Insurance & Valuation:

The most frequently asked question by our clients is: “If I hire a good, reputable moving company like Eagle Moving And Storage , why do I need insurance?” The answer is, for the same reason excellent drivers still need to have car insurance. Regardless of how careful you are, the possibility of damage still exists.

The following insurance options are available:

Option 1: $ 0.60 (sixty cents) Per Pound Per Article Basic Valuation Coverage

This type of valuation is provided by Moving of America at no additional cost to our clients. In the event of a loss or damaged item, the total amount that our clients will be entitled to recover is $0.60 per pound per article. For instance, if a desk that weighs one hundred (100) pounds is damaged, the most that our clients can recover is $60, regardless of the value of the desk.

Option 2: Full Replacement Value Coverage

We recommend Baker International, a moving insurance company ( 800.356.0093 ) , that offers full replacement value directly to our clients. This coverage is a more comprehensive coverage than Valuation, and generally offers more options such as deductible levels and higher coverage. This coverage option is more involved, and needs to be obtained prior to the actual move date. Please advise your moving advisor during time of booking. You will receive a separate application for full replacement value coverage. This coverage needs to be obtained prior to the actual move date. If you have a homeowner or renters policy, your household goods may already be covered, however please check with your home insurance agent or carrier.

Certificate of Insurance (COI):

Eagle moving And Storage maintains a policy of $2,000,000 worth of General Liability insurance, as well as Disability and Worker’s Compensation insurance coverage. Upon your request, at no cost to you, we will issue a COI and we will endorse it with the information of your building management company. some residential buildings require Insurance Certificates prior to any move (or any work) performed on the premises. The amount of insurance a company carries is a very important factor when choosing a mover. Most building managements require insurance in the amount that Eagle Moving And Storage is already covered for, allowing us access to almost every residential and commercial grounds. We maintain a substantial amount of insurance for our client’s peace of mind.
